Monroe County is in the process of preparing a Transportation Master Plan that will provide future direction for U.S. 1 within Monroe County.Your feedback is vital in helping develop the Transportation Master Plan. Visit us1masterplan.com to find information on the plan, progress on each phase, a public survey, and an interactive map where you can pinpoint areas of concern. We encourage you to provide as much feedback on your idea of traffic issues (congestion, safety, signals, pedestrian, bicycle, etc.), where these issues are, and possible solutions. (If completing the survey by using a smartphone, use the dropdown arrows for questions 1 & 2 to move forward - it allows you to type in the box but doesn't recognize that for some reason.)The primary objective of this study is to identify transportation needs, develop goals/objectives, and develop an action plan to meet those goals. The action plan will identify potential short-term solutions (1-5 years), mid-term (6-10 years), and long-term solutions (10-20 years). These solutions may include roadway, signal, and signage and marking improvements to address traffic issues and/or multi-modal solutions addressing the needs of pedestrians, bicyclists, and public transit. The more feedback the better! ... REGISTER NOW FOR FREE MOBILE VESSEL PUMP-OUT SERVICES EXPANDED TO UPPER KEYS ANCHORAGESMonroe County has contracted with On The Hook Marine Services to begin temporary mobile vessel pump-out services starting Oct. 1 in the following Upper Keys anchorages:Little Basin, Windley/Wilson Key, Community Harbor, Tarpon Basin, Big Basin, Windley/OV Basin, Buttonwood Sound, Jewfish CreekServices will be provided temporarily while Monroe County continues to seek a new vendor to provide long-term mobile pump-out services to vessels anchored throughout the Florida Keys. How It Works: Upon the first service, vessels will be provided an orange pump-out flag to be flown when service is requested. This flag shall be flown from a visible location aboard the vessel. Service will be provided only when the pump-out flag is properly displayed. Vessels will also receive a monthly endorsement sticker that will serve as documentation for compliance with the Monroe County Proof of Pump-out Ordinance 015-2017. A weekly service schedule can be found at www.onthehookmarine.com. Every effort will be made to provide your vessel with a routine, weekly pump-out service, if requested. However, weather, safety, or other scheduling considerations cannot guarantee that you will be provided service on a routine schedule. Key Largo Wastewater Treatment District needs your cooperation to protect the wastewater system particularly now due to the current COVID-19 outbreak. People are cleaning and disinfecting more frequently with bleach wipes and potentially substituting other items for toilet paper, such as baby wipes and paper towels.KLWTD is asking customers to throw these items in the trash, not flush them down the toilet. These items do not break down in the sewer system and can cause significant clogs that could lead to equipment failures and treatment plant issues. It is important to only dispose of toilet paper and human waste in the toilet. Otherwise, it can cause costly clogs or back-ups in your sewer system. Here is a list of items that should never be flushed down the toilet:Disposable wipes (even if marked "flushable") Wet Wipes Paper TowelsFacial TissuesFace-Cleaning Wipes Grease / OilsFeminine Hygiene ProductsCotton Swabs / Cotton BallsDiapersDental FlossMedicines / VitaminsCigarettes / Cigar Butts ...
